Founded in 2000, Autism Unravelled is a leading UK charity dedicated to investigating biomedical issues in autism spectrum disorders. It is our aim to support and help to fund research studies where possible and appropriate. To help us achieve this vital task, we have brought together a Biomedical Research Team, comprised of eminent researchers and practitioners in the field of autism.
Our Trustees are all parents or carers of a person who has an ASD. Being information-hungry and always reading, we realised how difficult it was to decipher medical and scientific literature. I took a BSc(Hons) in order to better understand this complex area so that I could help others do the same, so our Resource File aims to explain in simple terms the biochemistry and science that underlies ASD.
Being parents and carers, we know the importance of talking to others in the same situation, sometimes just for reassurance, sometimes to find out about something that will make life a bit easier. You may have a question about biochemistry or you might just want to chat. Whatever your question, we are happy to try and answer it; if we can't, we'll help you find out who can. Do contact us.
